Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities stated they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say initial examinations show the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking political figure said the incident left him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
